CBA Board Appoints New Radio Board Director

At the end of 2023 two board members resigned from the board, leaving two openings. One of the exiting members was up for re-election this summer and their seat was made eligible for election on the 2024 ballot. The other seat had a year of remaining term and the board decided to appoint a broadcast member to the remaining term.

One of the priorities of the search was to maintain a presence for our Western Slope members. We were excited to learn that Kelly Turner, Director of Operations at Hutton Broadcasting in Durango and Cortez was willing to be considered. In May, the CBA Board of Directors voted to appoint Kelly Turner to the board for the remaining term. Kelly will represent Medium Market Radio and fulfill the remaining term through June 30, 2025.

Kelly Turner has been broadcasting to audiences in southwestern Colorado and the Four Corners region for 34 years. Kelly attended Dove Creek High School and graduated from Montezuma-Cortez High School. While a junior at MCHS, Kelly was offered the weekend overnight slot on KRTZ Radio. After college, Kelly came back to Cortez, was offered a part-time newscaster position, then worked his way up to news director, sports director, program director, station manager, general sales manager, general manager and is now the regional director of operations for Hutton Broadcasting’s nine stations in southwestern Colorado and northwestern New Mexico. Even after nearly 3½ decades of broadcasting, Kelly points out that he is still very much a “student” of the industry.

The CBA Board and staff are excited to welcome Kelly!
