Description

An audio-visual project engineer will provide the in field technical/management leadership on major tasks or technology assignments as well as establish goals and plans that meet project objectives. AV Field Engineers will help install, configure, test, and troubleshoot audio visual equipment, such as projectors, cameras, microphones, and sound system components. In this job, you may also be responsible for repairing speakers, installing custom lighting, and spotlight equipment for commercial businesses.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The AV Project Engineer and Technical Lead will be responsible for the technical delivery of a project and will work hand in hand with Project Management to drive the solution to success.
  • Managing engineers and installers while onsite.
  • Creating punch lists and delegating work to full-time and freelance resources.
  • Being a leader and mentor to the team while also working alongside to deliver a working audio-visual project.
  • Read and interpret electronic schematics and architectural blueprints.
  • Test point-to-point functionality of systems
  • Review project Scope of Work (SOW) to ensure quality and completeness of installation.
  • Test integrated systems and perform troubleshooting for Extron/Crestron and DSP systems.
  • Field installation of control programs (Extron/Crestron) – upload and download capability.
  • Write code for DSP systems. (Biamp, Extron, QSC, Etc.)
  • Make minor programming changes under the direction of an engineer or programmer.
  • Fine tune audio video systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Configure IP addressable devices to establish communication on a network.
  • Perform client training and final job documentation as needed.
  • The Technician will consistently work in AV project Implementation which may also include pulling cables, terminating connectors, cable testing, equipment troubleshooting and rack construction.
  • Act as a customer liaison in absence of a Project Manager
  • Create, track, and complete a project punch list.
  • Using ladders and doing some confined space works as needed with the appropriate safety equipment.
  • Assures each system’s physical completeness is in accordance with installation drawings.
  • Handles other duties relative to the job as assigned by management
  • Understanding and configuration of networking equipment
  • Working with Project Management as well as the AV designer to have all as built documentation updated for final delivery to customer.
  • Up to 75% travel within the continental United States

Education, Certification, License, and Skill Requirements:

  • Must possess at least a high school diploma or GED equivalency
  • A formal education in electronics or a related field is preferred.
  • Must have experience with commercial audio visual for at least 2 years.
  • A strong experience in installing mounts and hardware for projectors, displays, cameras and others.
  • Excellent knowledge about cable types, connectors, and terminations.
  • At least some knowledge about Crestron 101 and Basics of Crestron.
  • CTS, CTS-I or CTS-D is preferred.
  • Some experience working with video conferencing (Zoom, Teams, Polycom, or Cisco) systems is strongly preferred
  • Crestron Certifications like DMC-T, DMC-E, NVX, etc. is a plus
  • Network Certifications (CCNA) or equivalent is preferred.
  • Crestron programing experience is preferred.
  • Fiber termination experience is preferred.

  • Audio Conferencing: Biamp, ClearOne
  • Displays by Samsung, LG, NEC, Sharp.
  • Projectors by Epson, NEC, Christie Digital, Panasonic, Digital Projection, etc.
  • Screens by Da-Lite, Draper
  • Planar

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Must have the ability to sit, stand, stoop and bend for extended periods of time
  • Must be self-motivated, positive in approach, professional and help create, develop, and implement project process improvement(s).
  • Must promote the Company culture and mission to all employees, vendors, clients, and business partners.
  • Must be able to act as the Company liaison for interface with customer representative(s).
  • Must possess proven problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills and the ability to effectively read, write and give oral presentation(s). Communication skills are required.
  • Must be able to work at heights, on a ladder and in confined spaces, lift up to 70 pounds and move up to 75 pounds.
  • Must be able to see and distinguish different colors, read small print, and hear and recognize audible signals such as dial tones.
  • Must be able to travel within the branch territory and/or regional territory as needed.
  • Problem solving and trouble-shooting skills and creative thinking are required.
  • Interact with employees, customers, and colleagues effectively on a professional level.
  • PC proficient (must already know your way around a computer)
  • Good Knowledge with MS Office Suite

Salary: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
