Organization Description:
KDNK is public access radio that connects community members to one another and the world. KDNK’s mission means that the station strives to serve, reflect and belong to the community.

Founded in 1983, KDNK broadcasts from our welcoming studio at 76 S. 2nd Street in the heart of the Carbondale Creative District. Our signals reach over 100,000 people from Rifle to Leadville to Marble, in addition to a global internet audience. Over 100 volunteer DJs and hosts of all varieties independently program the majority of our schedule, and some have since the beginning. Dedicated and award-winning staff keep listeners informed of local and regional news, curate an extensive music library and support the creation of excellent local programming. KDNK has a reputation for funky vitality and we are a trusted source for music discovery, news coverage, emergency information, weather, road conditions, ski and river reports, lost and found pet reports, and the daily community calendar. We host and produce live concerts and special events each year to benefit the community. Plus, we have longtime relationships with partners like the Andy Zanca Youth Empowerment Program and the Carbondale Creative District.

Position Overview:
The KDNK Membership Director and Events Coordinator is a vital part of KDNK’s fundraising initiatives. We seek an outgoing person committed to the mission of community radio, who is service and detail oriented. This position is responsible for managing the membership database, volunteer coordination of events, and the continued growth of our major donor program. The membership and events coordinator will work directly with the station director and the KDNK board of directors on fundraising activities.It is essential that candidates are comfortable working with over 1000 members, and over 100 volunteers. Excellent verbal, written and organizational skills are a must. Assistance with outreach, promotions, and social media are a plus. The ideal start date is November 4th, 2024.

JOB DUTIES:

Membership

• Deliver friendly customer service to members, who contribute 34% of annual revenue
• Maintain KDNK’s membership database (SalesForce), online banking, and software (Click & Pledge) including data entry and report generation
• Oversee membership outreach including email (MyEmma) and bulk mail list
• Manage collections, thank yous, tax letters, and monthly reporting including regular collections calls for lapsed credit cards and bank routing questions


Major Donors & Other giving opportunities

• Lead the expansion of the “Record Club” for major giving, including annual events
• Cultivate donors through ongoing relationships, community participation, and outreach
• Create and distribute “Annual Fund” letter in tandem with the Station Director
• Manage “Giving Tuesday,” “Colorado Gives” and other seasonal campaigns
• Expand the planned giving program to attract future bequests


Pledge Drives

• Create a timeline and establish deadlines for two annual membership drives
• Procure donated incentives and thank-you gifts, including food donations during the drives
• Coordinate schedule of volunteer opportunities before, during, and after drives


Event and Volunteer Coordination

• Work with Station Director to plan and execute 6-12 successful events including the Labor of Love Auction, Potato Day Record Sale, beer tent at Dandelion Day, cantina at Mountain Fair, and other events throughout the year and during membership drives
• Labor of Love Auction includes the solicitation of item donations, management of online software (Auctria), volunteer scheduling, event oversight
• Lead, market, cultivate, and manage the volunteer program as a staffing resource
• Administer SignUp.com account and kdnk.org/get-involved page for volunteer schedules
• Create protocol, training, tracking and best practices for volunteer experience

Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
Teamwork and commitment to serving the greater good through radio
Previous experience with computers, software, and comfort using new technologies
A desire to engage with diverse communities and nurture a wide range of personalities
Commitment to timely responses across multiple communications systems
Schedule flexibility including occasional work on nights and weekends

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• High school diploma or GED 
• Fundraising experience 
• Attention to detail and accuracy with financial information
• People skills including patience, professionalism, persistence, team spirit
• Comfort learning new (and old) technologies with self-directed implementation
• Ability to start right away


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree 
• Prior work at a nonprofit
• Comfort being live on the radio or interest in learning
• Familiarity with the Roaring Fork Valley
• Basic graphic design and layout capabilities
• Confidence using social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram

Pay and Benefits:

Part-time position, $21/hr. Weekly hours 20-25, more during membership drives (Early April, and late September.) Eligible for partial health stipend and partial dental coverage.
