Denver, CO – April 5, 2025 – The Colorado Broadcasters Association (CBA) hosted its highly anticipated Annual Awards of Excellence Gala on Saturday, April 5th, at the luxurious Ritz-Carlton Denver. A vibrant crowd of over 400 radio and television professionals gathered to celebrate the pinnacle of Colorado’s broadcast achievements in 2024, recognizing the dedication, innovation, and impact of the state’s broadcast community.
The evening was filled with cocktails, networking, and a gourmet dinner, culminating in an inspiring awards ceremony honoring the best of the best. A record-breaking 933 entries were submitted this year – 513 from radio and 411 from television. These submissions were meticulously reviewed by more than 200 volunteer broadcasters from across the country, each contributing their expertise to the judging process.
As part of the festivities, the CBA unveiled an exciting new initiative: the Colorado Broadcasters Hall of Fame, set to launch this fall. This landmark project will celebrate the iconic contributions of Colorado’s most influential broadcasters.
Among the standout winners of the evening, Casey Wren of KKCO-TV in Grand Junction was honored with the prestigious Rex Howell Broadcaster of the Year Award, recognizing his exceptional service to the broadcast industry. In a heartfelt tribute, Captain Dan, a beloved radio legend from Colorado Springs, received the Harry W. Hoth Public Service Award, acknowledging his remarkable dedication both on and off the air.
The CBA also recognized the “Stations of the Year” in various market categories, based on an awards point system that measured performance in both first-place Awards and second-place Certificates of Merit. The 2024 honorees are:

- Medium Market: KYSL-FM/Frisco
- Major Market: KUNC-FM/Northern Colorado
- Metro Market: KOA-AM/Denver
TELEVISION:
- Small Market: KKCO-TV/Grand Junction
- Non-Metro: KOAA-TV/Colorado Springs
- Metro Market: KUSA-TV/Denver

Additional Awards of Excellence plaques are $70 each (plus shipping). Additional Certificates of Merit are $5.00 each (plus shipping). Station of the Year trophies are made to order and pricing fluctuates. We will contact Station of the Year orders directly with a quote before ordering.
