On February 26th the Governor announced the addition of another phase to the vaccine distribution, and continued limitations for group gatherings and social distancing. This announcement has forced us to make the extremely tough decision to cancel the 2021 Awards of Excellence Gala.
Multiple conversations with the Grand Hyatt demonstrate that we simply cannot host our event without extreme modifications and limitations. The hotel has been kind enough to allow us to reschedule for the second year in a row, without penalty.
We intend to have a full celebration Saturday, April 9th, 2022. This should give our broadcast community the time needed to receive vaccinations, while COVID-19 hopefully becomes less of a threat.
In the meantime, we are working diligently on an online reveal for all radio and television winners. Details will be forthcoming, as they develop. At this time, our plan is to begin revealing winners, by market size, the week of April 19th. Awards and certificates will be mailed at the end of April. Watch the CBA’s weekly newsletter for more details.
Judging will be complete March 5th. There will be no early notice provided to station management, so we can keep the excitement of the April online reveal.
The CBA is also collecting images of efforts your station and staff made, and continue to make, in supporting the community during the pandemic. Any photos of your crew on the front lines, going above and beyond to serve their community, are wanted. If you have photos to share, please reply to this email, with attachments, or a shared folder link for an opportunity to be featured in an upcoming presentation to our members and state leaders.
Thanks again for your understanding and patience. Feel free to reach out if you have questions.
