After a dozen years in the community banking business, Alec purchased Northeast Colorado Broadcasting based in Fort Morgan and Sterling in 2003 which was a three radio station group at the time and has grown to seven stations. In 2017 they purchased KNAB (AM) and KNAB-FM in Burlington from the estate of longtime Colorado broadcaster Bette Bailly.
The flagship station of Northeast Colorado Broadcasting is “Farm Radio” 1010 KSIR known for its coverage of agriculture news and issues in Northeast Colorado. Other stations have a variety of formats and local information to serve the rural communities in Eastern Colorado, including the only Spanish language radio station in the area.
All of the stations in the group actively participate in community events, local chambers of commerce, youth initiatives and economic development efforts. Company stations have won numerous CBA Awards of Excellence, CBA Radio Station of the Year on five occasions, and have been recognized locally with awards including Business of the Year. Alec has served on several local boards and is active in community service clubs and has taken his turn as president multiple times.
